What should you Look for when you Want to Buy Evaporative Coolers?
Before you start your
search for the coolest evaporative cooler in town, you have to make sure that the climate in your area is suitable for evaporative cooling. It is because evaporative coolers are ideal only in dry or low-humidity areas. If you live in a very humid area, an evaporative air cooler may only make the air more humid.

- Size. The proper size of the air cooler for maximum cooling depends on the size of your home. Look for the CFMs of evaporative coolers and see which ones match the size of your room. CFM (cubic feet per minute) refers to the amount of air that an evaporative air cooler can distribute within your house. For a 1,500-square foot home, 6,000 CFM is necessary.
- Cooling Effect. Choose an air cooler with a large cooling effect, even if you are going to use it to cool a small room.
- Airflow. Check the cooler if it blows enough air. Good airflow is crucial to effective cooling because a great amount of air is needed to get rid of heat. If an air cooler cannot provide that, then it is not worth considering.
- Noise Level. Evaporative coolers naturally produce noise during operation. If you prefer a noiseless evaporative cooler, opt for a large one that can blow a reasonable amount of cool air. However, they cost a bit more than smaller ones.
