How to set up the parameters when using the multihead weighing filler in your plant

The Multihead weighing filling machine 32 heads filler compilation video

Here are some instructions on how to set up the parameters for the multihead weigher. Please take it for reference.

Here are the instructions from the engineer, for technical explanations, please check the manual.

1) Program No.

It actually refers to different recipes. Currently we have two recipes available in this system. One is No. 21 which is for the 400g mixture, another is No. 31 for the 1000g mixture. The percentage remains the same for both recipes 47%, 35%, 6%, 6%, 6%.

TO A (Hopper 1-8)

TO B (Hopper 9-16)

TO C (Hopper 17-24)

TO D (Hopper 25-32)

A, B, C, D stands for different sections. In our case A section is for Rice, which is 400*47%=188g

2) Target weight needs to be 188+24=212g ( There is a compensation hopper in Section A, that’s why we need to add extra weight for the target weight. 188/8=23.5gram)

Section B is for Peanut, 400*35%=140g, target weight needs to be 140g. No need to add extra compensation weight like Section A.

It remains the same for Section C(Pecan) and Section D(Brazil). Section C 400*6%=24; Section D 400*6%=24.

Above is the principle on how we need to fill in the parameters for each section. We can always change the product for each section, but the target weight for each section needs to set correctly.

3) Main AMP & Lin AMP

When we change the product/ingredient for each section, the Main AMP and the LinAMP needs to be adjusted accordingly based on the density and viscosity of the product.

If the density of a new product becomes bigger, the Main AMP/Lin AMP needs to set up higher, vice verso.

Above is the main vibrator, there are 4 of them. The vibrating frequency indicates in Main AMP.

The lower side is the Linear vibrator, 32 units in total. The vibrating frequency indicates in LIN AMP.

4) LVB Feed TM & LVB Feed TM

When the weight in one section is set up from a lower value to a high value. The LVB Feed TM and LVB Feed TM needs to be increased accordingly.

So to make it simple and clear, here is how we need to change the settings for different recipes.

1. Same mixture(400g), but different percentage for each ingredient.

From 47%,35%, 6%, 6%,6%  to 60%, 10%, 20%, 5%, 5%

We simply need to correctly fill in the target weight according the percentage, and then adjust the Main AMP & Lin AMP and LVB Feed TM & LVB Feed TM in production.

2. Same percentage, but different weight

For 400g mixture, the parameter for these four sections are saved in 21, 22, 23, 24.; and the 1000g mixture parameter are saved in 31, 32, 33, 34. So if later in the future we want to create a recipe of 350g, we can simply export the data of 400g mixture, and update the parameter accordingly; likewise if we want to create a mixture of 1200g, then we better export the data of 1000g mixture and update it as well.

3. Different ingredients for one section

You can also change the sections for different ingredients. Let’s say the pecan nuts were placed in Section A, but now they are changed to section B, in this case, the parameter in each section needs to be changed as well.

Please bear in mind, besides update the target weight, the Main AMP & Lin AMP and LVB Feed TM & LVB Feed TM requires for minor adjustment when we do all the above changes. It depends the product in this section and the density of the product.

There are some other data which we need to know, but in most cases, we don’t need to do much about it.

FD HP Dly (Feeding hopper time delay - The 1st row )

WG HP Dly (Weighing hopper time delay- The 2nd row)

This is the place where we can change the Main AMP & Lin AMP as well.

How we need to set up the parameters on Auto Counters.

No. 1, 2, 3 stands for three different auto counters.

Go to Parameters, this is where we can set up the number of products for each ingredient.

In the test we did here, Macadamia nuts are the ingredients we choose. The target number is set to 3. Here is how we set it as 3.

In the 400 mixture, the percentage of Macadamia takes up 6%, which is 24g in proportion. Single macadamia weighs about 8g each piece, so the target count needs to be 3. It works for some other kinds of products as well.

As you can see the parameter for all three auto counters are the same. It’s because all three auto counters are used to feed the same ingredient now, Macadamia. When all three auto counters are for three different ingredients, the parameters need to be changed respectively.

There are some other cases, when the auto counter is used for small and multiple items, we better use Time to control the feeding instead of Count. There are feeding modes to choose here.

There are two touch panels, one is for the multihead weigher, another is for the auto counter.

You can also change the parameter on the touch panel of multihead weigher. We keep it as Program. 18 here.

Please don’t click on Recover, otherwise we will lose all data stored in the system.
